Description
1881-S Morgan Silver Dollar Coin PCGS MS67
The Morgan Silver Dollar was the second-longest-running design in the history of US silver dollars. Only its predecessor, the Seated Liberty Silver Dollar, was available longer than the Morgan Dollar. These coins were struck by a total of five branch mint facilities over the course of history, with San Francisco being one of the largest producers of the coins. Today, 1881–S Morgan Silver Dollar Coins with PCGS certifications are available to you online from Complex Bullion.

Morgan Silver Dollars were introduced by the United States Mint in 1878. The coin replaced the Seated Liberty Dollar after a five-year lapse in silver dollar coining in the United States. The famed Morgan Dollar design was used from 1878 to 1904 and again in 1921. In each of the aforementioned years, the San Francisco Mint issued Morgan Dollars. This makes it the only mint, alongside the Philadelphia Mint, to issue Morgan Dollars for each date mark in the series.
All of these 1881-S Morgan Silver Dollar Coins are available with Mint State 67 certifications. The PCGS assigns this grade to coins that have original luster with a normal strike given the date and mint. It is acceptable for three or four small contact marks to be present, as well as one detracting mark that is more noticeable. It is also possible for one or two small hairlines and one or two minor scuffs.
On the obverse of 1881-S Morgan Dollar Coins is a depiction of Lady Liberty. Designed by George T. Morgan for this series, the image shows Liberty in left-profile relief with a Phrygian cap at the back of her head, a coronet crown in her hair, and a laurel wreath. The field includes 13 stars around the edge of the design field.
The reverse field of the 1881-S Morgan Silver Dollar is an effigy of the heraldic eagle of the United States. This design was also created by Morgan and features a front-facing bald eagle with its wings spread and its talons clutching the olive branch of peace and arrows of war.
