The Australian Kangaroo bullion series at Perth Mint is one of the most complete collections available. The gold coin is the oldest, continuously offered program from Perth Mint. The silver coin was the first annual-release .9999 pure silver coin in the collection. In 2018, the introduction of the platinum coin made the Australian Kangaroo the first of the major collections with bullion coins across all three major precious metals. The design on the Australian Platinum Kangaroo is the same that can be found annually on the Australian Silver Kangaroo, as well as on the annual 1 Kilo Gold Kangaroo. Like the Silver Kangaroo, this design element does not change year-over-year as is the case with the Kookaburra, Koala, and the Gold Kangaroo coins (except 1 Kilo).
All of the 2022 1 oz Australian Platinum Kangaroo Coins are available here in Brilliant Uncirculated condition. These platinum BU coins arrive individually in protective capsules, by multiples of 20 coins in plastic tubes, and by multiples of 100 in boxes. The box holds a total of five tubes of 20 coins each. With an unlimited mintage, Perth will continuously strike these coins through 2022 until the 2023 coin is ready for production.
On the obverse of 2022 Australian Platinum Kangaroo Coin is the effigy of Queen Elizabeth II. This is the sixth-generation and latest portrait of Her Majesty to grace Australian coins. Designed in 2015 by Jody Clark, the design shows the Queen in right-profile relief wearing the George IV State Diadem. It is customary for monarchs to feature in the same relief throughout their reign. As the Queen’s father, King George VI, was always depicted in left-profile relief, the Queen has featured in right-profile relief.
The reverse side of the 2022 1 oz Platinum Kangaroo comes with a depiction of a red kangaroo hopping along. The figure of the kangaroo shown here was created by Stuart Devlin and was inspired by the 1936 Copper Penny design issued before decimalization in Australia.
