Johnson Matthey was founded in 1817 by Percival Norton Johnson. The company was originally a small gold assaying office located in London, England. In 1851, George Matthey joined the company and within a year it was chosen as the official gold assayer of the Bank of England. By the 20th century, Johnson Matthey had a global footprint refining gold, silver, and platinum metals.
The 1000 oz Johnson Matthey Silver Bar is packaged inside a protective box for storage and will be delivered to you in an outer cardboard box. This silver bar has markings on only one side and features a serial number from Johnson Matthey. As Secondary Market items, Complex Bullion did not receive these directly from the original manufacturer. Please keep in mind that Secondary Market bars do often showcase flaws such as nicks, scuffs, scratches, dents, and other contact marks. Toning is also possible and is the result of natural oxidation over the course of time. Toning of the silver does not impact the value of the bar itself.
On the obverse of the 1000 oz Johnson Matthey Silver Bar are stamped markings of the weight and purity. The Johnson Matthey logo with company initials is found on this side of the bar, as well as an individual serial number. The reverse of the bar has no stamped markings.
