The San Francisco Mint was celebrating its 75^th anniversary, the US Mint released an American Silver Eagle two-coin proof set that featured a proof and reverse proof specimen. The Making American History Coin and Currency Set included another special Proof American Silver Eagle minted in San Francisco.

However, these 2012 (S) American Silver Eagle Coins are regular bullion releases that were quietly resuming production at the San Francisco Mint to supplement production from the West Point Mint.
